Precast concrete columns come in various shapes and sizes

Factory Certification

Manufacturers should be factory certified. Readymix Concrete Plants, Precast Concrete Factories and Central Batching are regulated by Administrative Decision No. (316) of 2012 issued by DM.

According to this decision, all precast concrete factory is required to get Conformity Mark from the Dubai Central Laboratory — Certification and Quality Control of Products Section (DCLD-CQPS) under Dubai Municipality.

This is a factory certification, and not a project certification. No products can be used on a Dubai project if the manufacturer is not on DM’s approved list of manufacturers — no exceptions.

Structural Design Compliance

Precast concrete and other heavy structural components must be securely tied together at each level or tied directly to their supports as required by the design code as per the requirements of DM’s Building Code.

Overlap lengths should be designed to accommodate tension and column-to-column and column-to-beam connections should be drawn to accommodate tension forces. The structural design work should be done by an engineer who is licensed in Dubai.

Project-Level Building Permits

The architectural, structural and MEP drawings need to comply with the requirements of Dubai Municipality and be submitted via the Dubai Municipality portal.
